RFID and digital ID for logistics

Logistics lie at the very heart of RFID’s big promise: To drive efficiencies across the supply chain and make it possible to automatically see every product at every stage of its journey from source to recipient. It is therefore no wonder that digital ID technologies have a huge impact on logistics, from optimizing truck loads and asset management to accelerating overall supply-chain performance and ultimately increasing margins.

Benefits for manufacturers, distributors and retailers

Avery Dennison engineers cost-effective digital ID technologies that provide end-to-end inventory and item-tracking solutions for increased accuracy, visibility and security, starting at the point of manufacture. Their end-to-end track-and-trace capabilities reduce counterfeiting, theft, billing disputes and charge-back fees while protecting the brand. The ability to gather specific data such as manufacturing location, shipment date and lot number associated with the individual product, carton and/or pallet supports simpler and more effective recall and product tracking processes.

Monitoring temperature-sensitive goods

As the demand for global industrial logistics grows, temperature-controlled applications are rapidly evolving in parallel, leaving the last mile as the weakest link within the supply chain. Avery Dennison has developed innovative products and solutions for sensing temperature and moisture levels, indicating or logging temperatures over time and providing authenticity and traceability information.

Follow the journey with atma.io connected product cloud: A parcel delivered with care

atma.io enables products to become direct communication channels with customers by turning them into digital platforms. With atma.io’s potential for end-to-end supply chain transparency, customers can see the full journey of their parcel: From the front line worker who packaged it at source, to its full journey from distribution to their doorstep, knowing it was safely handled each step of the way.

Our products & innovations

Available in both FCC and ETSI versions, AD-456u8 inlays from Avery Dennison are an excellent option for tagging items that cannot be RFID-enabled with traditional inlay designs. These Gen2 UHF RFID RAIN labels are perfectly suited for applications related to manufacturing, computers and electronics, and miscellaneous consumer goods, including beverages such as bottled water, juices, and soft drinks in aluminum cans. They are robust, high-performance, incredibly versatile solutions for tagging hard-to-read surfaces, achieving an average of 1-2 meters’ read distance on most metal surfaces and liquid-filled containers.

If you’re looking for a similarly capable tag that is optimized for high performance in the FCC (902-928 MHz) frequency band, achieving an average of 4-6 meters’ read distance on metal surfaces and liquid-filled containers, AD-454r6-P is the product for you.

AD-681 features a unique, dual dipole design which provides orientation insensitivity and outstanding read performance for a wide variety of UHF RFID tagging applications. The design is available in three Impinj chip configurations: Monza 4D, Monza 4QT and Monza 4i. Providing high-level performance in orientation-sensitive applications, AD-681m4D, AD-681m4QT and AD-681m4i are a perfect fit for specific applications in supply chain management, asset tracking, and package tracking.

Available for adhesive mounting or PU embedding, MaxDura® Keg Dual hard tags provide superior solutions for identifying and tracking beverage kegs, gas cylinders and other curved metal returnable transport items (RTIs) under bulk reading conditions. They are designed to overcome the typical drawbacks of conventional RFID tags for curved metal RTIs: reading failures in multiple unit environments; tag damage during production, distribution and maintenance processes such as cleaning; and, particularly, forklift handling. What’s more, even end customers with no UHF RFID infrastructure can still participate in the digital supply chain with NFC-enabled smartphones, so can take advantage of their suppliers’ delivery and re-order platforms, for example.
