RFID technology related associations

AIM

AIM is the trusted worldwide industry association for the automatic identification industry including RFID. For nearly half a century, AIM has provided unbiased information, educational resources and standards to providers and users of these technologies.

Auburn University RFID Lab

The RFID Lab at Auburn University is a research institute focusing on the business case and technical implementation of RFID and other emerging technologies in retail, aviation, supply chain and manufacturing. The ARC program pioneered most of the modern performance and quality testing practices for RFID.

GS1

GS1 is a not-for-profit organization that develops and maintains global standards for business communication. Besides RFID standards, the best known is the barcode, a symbol printed on products that can be scanned electronically. GS1 has 114 local member organizations and 1.5 million user companies.

NFC Forum

The Near Field Communication Forum was formed to advance the use of Near Field Communication technology by developing specifications, ensuring interoperability among devices and services, and educating the market about NFC technology. Formed in 2004, the Forum now has 170+ members. Avery Dennison has upgraded to Principal membership in 2020.

RAIN RFID Alliance

RAIN RFID is an industry alliance dedicated to promoting the international adoption of UHF RFID. Founding members include Google, Impinj, Intel and Smartrac, along with the leading AIDC industry association, AIM Global. RAIN promotes awareness, education, programs, and initiatives to accelerate the growth and adoption of ISO–IEC 18000-63 / EPC™ Gen2 RFID in business and consumer applications worldwide. The name RAIN, which stands for RAdio-frequency IdentificatioN, symbolizes the synergy between UHF RFID and the cloud as well as the ubiquity of UHF RFID tags and applications.

UniVisID

UnitVisID offers best practices for using serialized, RFID-tagged medications to support the quality, performance, and interoperability of tagged drug products as they move through the pharmacy supply chain, from the manufacturer all the way to the patient, across all of the existing systems and software supporting the medication use process.

AAFA offers exclusive expertise in supply chain management, trade policy, and brand protection, to help members navigate the complex regulatory environment and lower costs. The AAFA represents apparel and footwear companies globally.

BSR is a global nonprofit organization that works with its network of more than 250 member companies to build awareness around sustainability and develop sustainable business strategies.

CIRPASS - Digital product passport

CIRPASS is preparing the ground for the gradual piloting and deployment of a standards-based Digital Product Passport (DPP), focusing on developing a roadmap for prototypes with an initial focus on the electronics, batteries, and textile sectors. 

Ellen MacArthur Foundation

The Ellen MacArthur Foundation works with business, government and academia to build a framework for an economy that is restorative and regenerative by design.

The Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI) is a leading alliance of companies, trade unions and NGOs that promotes respect for workers' rights around the globe. They influence business to act responsibly and promote decent work.

Future Travel Experience (FTE)

FTE Baggage Innovation Working Group focuses heavily on the future of baggage and aim to identify and act upon the opportunities to deliver positive change in the years ahead.

Global Battery Alliance

Global Battery Alliance (GBA) – a partnership of 120 organizations and Governments dedicated to promoting environmental sustainability within battery production. The GBA mobilizes to ensure that battery production not only supports green energy, but also safeguards human rights and promotes health and environmental sustainability.

How 2 Recycle

How2Recycle is a standardized labeling system that clearly communicates recycling instructions to the public. It involves a coalition of forward thinking brands who want their packaging to be recycled and are empowering consumers through smart packaging labels.

National Retail Federation

NRF is the world’s largest retail trade association promoting growth in the retail industry through advocacy, communication and education.
