Macy’s launch new concept store – with Avery Dennison as tech partner

We partnered with Macy’s to add digital connectivity to the inventory of Market By Macy's, a new retail concept store. All products are tagged with our on-metal and on-liquid solutions, purposely built for the beauty industry. This innovation enables Macy’s to monitor product movement and deliver against growing consumer expectations.

“We’re really excited about what we’ve created here,” says Jeff Gennette, chairman and CEO of Macy’s, Inc. “The information we learn will help us tailor our in-store shopping experience across our portfolio of businesses.”

A Thing of Beauty:
Helping EY Capture the Advantages of RFID for Grupo Boticário

Tags purpose-built for beauty, deep expertise, and above-and-beyond collaboration made Avery Dennison the right partner for the beauty industry’s first RFID deployment in Brazil. Seeking end-to-end traceability across its increasingly complex supply chain, Grupo Boticário hired EY to help the company test RFID tagging for six months in 2018. The results reduced stockouts by 97 percent, decreased labor by 14 percent, and increased revenue.

Make a real world difference with RFID

Our Intelligent Labels technology enables every single beauty item across the entire supply chain to be tracked so brands can minimise waste before it even reaches consumers. Our digital packaging solutions can house lengthy product information reducing the design need for excess packaging. Whilst Janela™ can provide post purchase advice and rewards for consumers who recycle. Our digital circular economy solutions are available for brands of any size, to make a real world difference.

Refillable Beauty Packaging is Becoming Aspirational

Once a niche concept, more beauty brands are embracing refills and redesigning their product to make it a luxurious proposition. The Future Laboratory and Avery Dennison explore this future trend and how to leverage it using Intelligent Labels tech.

The beauty market is gaining momentum.

The beauty business is booming, and now more than ever beauty retailers command inventory visibility, both in store and online. While worldwide shoppers are spending a smaller percentage on apparel, 20% of the global cosmetics sales are made through department and apparel stores.

Many of the most influent retail players are responding to this market trend by ramping up their offerings and revamping their beauty departments with interactive experiences and customized services.
And while cosmetics and skincare products continue to enjoy high store sales, the rise of online retailers is urging brands to provide ever greater inventory accuracy to fulfill the increasing need for new products, fast global shipping and replenishment.

“More than ever, beauty retailers need to have a firm grip on inventory visibility, both in stores and for online purchasing. Inventory accuracy in the beauty industry is critical.”
