Welcome to our third edition of the Insight Quarterly in 2023. As you may be aware, earlier this year, Francisco Melo was appointed President of the Solutions Group for Avery Dennison. As part of the transition to his new role, I have been assigned Interim GM for Avery Dennison Smartrac. Francisco has dedicated more than 10 years of his career to building the foundation of, shaping and growing this business. On behalf of our teams, I’d like to express my sincere appreciation for all he has done and still inspires us to do. I am honored and excited to take on this expanded role, and I look forward to furthering our partnership with you.
Let me share a bit about myself
I joined the Intelligent Labels business one and a half years ago. Before that, I spent the past nine years working in the Materials Group Business across Europe and Asia, for the most part in Finance as well as in a few other roles, including leading Graphics Europe.

As we focus on creating solutions that unlock value across multiple industries, I have an unwavering belief in our ability to create a better world by digitizing products and supply chains to benefit people, the planet and profit.
Announcement partnership with Amazon and more
This edition is full of exciting announcements, collaborations and product news. You will be able to read more about our collaboration with Amazon to create Just Walk Out (JWO) store experiences powered by RFID. This new RFID capability for JWO shopping is a first-of-its-kind for checkout-free tech and a landmark move for the retail shopping industry. We have also collaborated with Bastille Parfums to showcase how digital identification technology can create supply chain transparency and enhance the consumer experience. Furthermore, I’m pleased to share that Avery Dennison launched AD Pure™ - its new product portfolio of inlays and tags, which are entirely PET plastic-free, compact in size and perform exceptionally well on difficult-to-tag materials such as cardboard and plastic.
