Avery Dennison’s Bluetooth RTI solution winner of the 2022 Supply Chain, Logistics and Distribution Pharmapack award

The jury of the 2022 Pharmapack awards has recognized Avery Dennison for the best solution in the ‘Supply Chain, Logistics & Distribution’ category!

Pharmapack Europe (18 - 19 May, Paris, France) is the European hub for the pharma packaging and drug delivery device industry.

The Avery Dennison team submitted the Bluetooth RTI (returnable transport items) solution, a technology that offers temperature sensing (-30 to +80ºC) and asset tracking of sensitive pharmaceuticals. Bluetooth RTI provides transparency to the customer in terms of authenticity, provenance, cold chain custody, expiry date and waste reduction.

When applied to a pharmaceutical product and combined with the sensing capabilities, the Bluetooth RTI solution also enables additional customer related benefits: patient treatment adherence, dosing control, usage instructions/recommendations, expiration date control, re-ordering and more.

The application utilizes Wiliot tags, which are stamp-sized computers that are powered by harvesting radio frequency energy and can be read via existing Bluetooth devices, utilizing Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). Wiliot tags can deliver core sensing functionalities like temperature, tamper-detection, humidity, fill rates, and much more.

Avery Dennison is a strategic partner of Wiliot and collaborates on the design and manufacture of second-generation Wiliot tags, and provides specific R&D expertise to create new applications for Wiliot’s technology.

COVID-19 test kits: When authenticity is king, NFC plus blockchain is the way to go

For COVID-19 control and reliable testing, authentic testing kits and personal protective equipment (PPE) are truly vital. Together with blockchain startup SUKU, Avery Dennison Smartrac developed a digital verification solution to securely authenticate healthcare equipment and provide supply chain transparency.

A wider choice for higher security product authentication

Avery Dennison Smartrac launched its NFC Pro series to empower brands and retailers to beat counterfeiting and deliver customer experiences at more secure levels - made possible through “one-time password” authentication. The new Circus™ Tamper Loop Pro inlays and tags combine these capabilities with “digital seal” tamper detection, and introduce a new IC option.

Enhancing healthcare quality with RFID innovations for the sterile goods cycle

Surgical instruments are a challenge for today’s RFID technology: made of stainless steel, they are delicate, and are sterilized at extreme temperatures (up to 121°C/250°F). Tiny, super-high frequency tags (SHF, 5.8 GHz) are needed to create a digital copy of the sterile goods cycle.
