GLENDALE, CA – July 28, 2020 — Avery Dennison has published a Market Insights Report that highlights the effects of the IoT-driven digital transformation on the supply chains of a broad range of industries. The report was collated using a combination of primary and secondary research methodologies and yields several remarkable findings, particularly against the background of the COVID-19 pandemic.
65% of the interviewees of the Supply Chain Market Insights Report said that ‘sustainability’ will be an even ‘greater priority’ than before COVID-19. And 83% believe that supply chains and associated technologies including RFID can assist businesses with their sustainability objectives.
The report is the result of an extensive survey with a panel of over 700 c-suite and leadership roles from retail, logistics, and supply-chain industries across the UK, US, Central Europe, China and Japan earlier this year. In general, the report confirms a high level of awareness and interest in IoT-related technologies such as RFID. After all, 55% of respondents believe that deploying these digital technologies across supply chains can assist in solving their concerns and ‘big issues’ such as brand safety, trust, product authenticity, transparency, and ingredients integrity.
A new perspective on supply-chain transformation and its opportunities
In addition to the results of the quantitative and qualitative research, Avery Dennison’s Supply Chain Market Insights Report also presents recent case studies of companies from the retail, food, apparel and other industries, and discusses the history, future prospects and significance of IoT for supply chains of all kinds.
“The supply-chain revolution is upon us. It is becoming everyone’s concern. COVID-19 has brought the very simple principle of ‘supply and demand’ into stark focus. With this report, we are offering everyone the chance to acquire an entirely new perspective on the imminent digital transformation of supply chains and the opportunities that arise from it,” said Francisco Melo, vice president and general manager, Avery Dennison Intelligent Labels.
Avery Dennison’s Supply Chain Market Insights Report was collated using a combination of primary and secondary research methodologies. Primary quantitative research was conducted using SmartSurvey, a multi-question, multiple-choice, independent digital platform trusted by a wide range of organizations and businesses worldwide. There were 710 respondents from the US, EMEA and APAC regions in c-suite or management positions, working within technology, logistics, retail, supply-chain management and/or sales. Deeper primary qualitative research was conducted through a series of Avery Dennison interviews. This was bolstered by secondary desk research. The report can be downloaded from an interactive landing page on the Avery Dennison website.
