Dr. Juha Virtanen

Dr. Juha Virtanen leads our Global Research and Development team with the goal to drive and enhance technology leadership of Avery Dennison Smartrac. 

In his role, he is responsible for technology and product development as well as road- mapping future innovation and exploring disruptive technologies.

Juha joined Avery Dennison in 2020 with Avery Dennison acquisition of Smartrac, where he was heading the RFID hardware development. Prior to joining Smartrac, Juha worked for RFID specialist Confidex, where he held, among other roles, the position of Head of Hardware. 

Juha graduated from Tampere University of Technology, Finland, with a PhD in Science.
